"Many times...from his first game ...until I left UK in late '73..."

Me much the same (started going to UP March '58): though at least I waited until Bobby had moved onto Fulham before leaving the country! So, saw the vast majority of his games at home, but not many away.

Re: Did you see the Great man play?
I remember seeing him play at Craven Cottage and an old tosser called Tosh Chamberlain seemed to take offence at the way Bobby was taking the ball off him every time and started ankle tapping him on the last occasion Bobby took the ball off him showboated by running rings round him then gobbed in his eye

Re: Did you see the Great man play?
Yup luckily saw him and Hursty.... for a young 4 year old he was one of the easier players to spot with his mop of blonde hair.... Clyde Best was also easy to spot for obvious reasons....

Re: Did you see the Great man play?
My first West Ham game was in Southampton at the Dell...Bobby Moore played and Trevor Brooking scored ...that's all I can remember...the next time was at Upton Park on the day the new East Stand (Chicken Run) was opened,we were playing Manchester United with Charlton,Best and Law..it was a 0-0 draw but I can remember lots more about the day..the British Legion brass band and the old boy waving to the North Bank when the team were coming out...the two blonde women who used to stand behind the North Bank goal with their scarves hanging over the wall and the smell of roasted chestnuts on the way out...a big day for a 13 year old from the depths of Berkshire !!

Saw him play hundreds of times. From the youth team and up.
Played against him three times. (Cricket) Brian Dear too. He was a wicket keeper.

Re: Did you see the Great man play?
Like the OP, I've seen him play but sadly I don't remember it. 1975 FA Cup Final for Fulham. I was too young to appreciate who he was, even though my dad probably bored me to death with it at the time, but at least I can say I have seen him.

He presented me with my first football medal, i stuttered and was total awe-struck.

Still, I'm the proud owner of one of his West Ham shirts..

Saw a few with my dad, but can't to be totally honest recall nowt, except his blond locks leading us out.

Re: Did you see the Great man play?
Yes from 73-74 including his last game v Hereford. Then in the 75 FACF for Fulham.

Re: Did you see the Great man play?
I have seen no player since Moore demonstrate the uncanny ability he had to anticipate and intercept a pass. He was Rolls Royce smooth, tackled clinically and came away with the ball and his distribution was first class.

Re: Did you see the Great man play?
Yes, one of the few rewards of being an old git. Night games were best, his golden hair shining under the UP lights ( *** overcome by melancholic pathos *** ).

Even saw him play in goal in that dreaded Leg Cup defeat. Met him twice when he was manager at Sarfend. Gentleman in every way :-)

Re: Did you see the Great man play?
I saw him play a few times and also met him a couple of times, his future wife, Tina used to live in Ilford and would get the same bus as my future wife to Pitmans college in Forest gate (they both studied shorthand) in the evenings and used to chat on the bus as they were in the same class, I met him while we were both outside Pitmans waiting for them to come out, we were married in 1961 and they married a year later.

Re: Did you see the Great man play?
I've seen the full matches of 64,65 and 66

Think 66 was the best performance of them all. Pure class. Ridiculously talented.

Re: Did you see the Great man play?
My first game at UP was against Stoke in 1969, think we lost 3-2.
Was right down the front in the West Lower and patted Sir Bob On the back when he took a throw in right in front of me.

Re: Did you see the Great man play?
Saw Moore play his debut first division match against ManU in 1958.

1962 onwards.. first game goalkeeper Lawrie Leslie broke his leg against Bolton

Saw him and George Best play for Fulham at UP. Think it was Lampard's testimonial.
